Why is Lord Shiva naked all the time? In this lecture, we discuss "upadhis", the various contractions and limitations that cause us to forget our true nature as innocent, ever-free, boundless Awareness. In considering Lord Shiva's nakedness, we speak a little of Jesus Christ and Sri Ramakrishna regarding their views on renunciation and giving up the world in the name of spirituality. Then, we sketch out in brief the biography of India's great non-dual master, Sri Adi Shankaracharya who was himself an incarnation of Lord Shiva. I think you're going to enjoy this story!
