"Vanwaar?" is a project set up by Ivy Kneppers and myself. With it we want to educate children about the origins of some customs, traditions and holidays of Dutch culture. We also aimed to engage them more in these customs through a short assignment. It requires the children to use their creativity to really think about these customs or traditions and redesign them to make them their own. This video is about some of the old wives' tales that were told back in the day about the origin of children and the assignment challenges the children to create their own. Ivy and I realized that creativity was really losing its place in primary education due to all the factual information the teachers have to cram into those little heads before they go off to high school. We thought of "Vanwaar?" so we could combine factual information with creativity in a way that teachers could easily implement it in their schedule. It takes no more than an afternoon.
