Dil dar-yaa samundro.n dhoo.ngay Kaun dilla.n diya.n janey….. hoo The heart is deeper than the ocean Who can fathom its mysteries? Wich-ay baiR-ay which-ay cheR-ay Which-ay wanjh mahan-ay …..hoo Storms come and go on its surface, While fleets sail through it, Their crews wielding their oars. Chaudaa.n tabbaq dilay they undur tumbu wangay taan-ay…..hoo Inside the heart are the fourteen realms, Stretched like canvas tents. Jo dil da mehrum ho-way Bahu So yo RUB pichaan-ay ….hoo Only the one who knows These deeper secrets of the heart Can know the Creator, O Bahu! Poetry of Sultan Bahu - Sultan Bahu (1631-1691) is universally admitted to have been among the greatest mystics of India. His father was a resident of Jhang district. He is said to have been a person of quite a disposition and so was his wife. Bahu belonged to the Qadri school of Sufis and was a disciple of Hazrat Habib-ullah. He is not defiant towards Sharia. The tone of his verse is melancholy. He lays stress on the Sufi formula of ‘dying before death.’ However, he was against the show of religiosity and piety.
