La Donaira is a distinctive Andalucian finca set within 1700 acres of mountainous land, high above Ronda. Rolling hills of wild flowers, vegetable gardens, fruit orchards, vineyards, olive trees, beehives and medicinal herb gardens and green valleys where Lusitano horses roam free combine to create a special, much-loved place; one of Europe’s hidden treasures. The century-old Cortijo (Andalusian farmhouse) has been sensitively renovated using local craftsmen and materials, to restore this beautiful building to its former glory. Spacious rooms, high ceilings and vast windows allow for cool interiors which are flooded with natural light. White washed walls, billowing cotton drapes, leathers, wood and stone create dimension whilst Moroccan artefacts and design elements reflect the influence of eight centuries of Arab domination of the Iberian Peninsula. La Donaira features 8 individually designed suites in the main farmhouse as well as 5 traditional yurts. Large king-sized beds, freestanding copper baths, deep set leather armchairs, open fireplaces, stone carved sinks, hide rugs and glimmering candles keep guests cosy in the winter, whilst exposed brick walls, high beamed ceilings and large terraces allow for a refreshing breeze to circulate on hot summer days.
