Animated opening sequence for Billy Joel's concert special on CBS. The animation was created by altering physical paintings hundreds of times in a stop-motion technique, and took 4 months to create. One second of animation consisted of approximately 12 alterations on a painting. The paintings ranged in size from 16 inches to 6 feet in width.
