In the Bible the power of faith is not in faith itself, but in the object of that faith. Faith in God has great power because God has great power. Faith in idols has no power because they have no power. Jesus many times demonstrated to his disciples who he was and what he could do. When he asked here, “Where is your faith?”, he was not asking them to muster up more faith in faith; He was asking them to trust him. “Where is your faith *in me*?”. They understood what he meant, and were in awe of him at this new demonstration of his power and authority. He could command nature, and nature obeyed. Only God can do that.
