In this series of reviews I will be examining the plot of the various groups of missions in Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty to highlight retcons, poor plots, and illogical decisions. Where relevant I will compare SC2 to SC1.

My main issues with the plot of the Artefact mission are:
1) Raynor acts immorally by attacking the Tal'Darim and stealing their sacred artefacts in exchange for money. Seriously the Tal'Darim aren't even a threat to anyone yet Raynor still attacks them.
2) Raynor's retconned love for Kerrigan. There was no evidence that they were lovers in StarCraft 1 or Brood Wars.
3) There's no reason for Raynor to ally with the Dominion, the Dominion had no reason to ally with Raynor, and Raynor's crew has no reason to help Raynor deinfest his retconned girlfriend.

For more information about the problems with the plot of Wings of Liberty I recommend these threads:
http://sclegacy.com/site/editorials/7-reviews/1134-scl-reviews-wings-of-liberty
http://sclegacy.com/editorials/6-speculation/906-starcraft-retcons-analysis
