Everest.<br/> <br />Wreaths were laid on the statue of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa the first people to successfully summit the world's tallest mountain.<br/> <br />File video shows the New Zealand native and his Nepali companion returning to a hero's welcome after their ascent.<br/> <br />Their feat inspired many thousands others to reach the top of Everest in the ensuing years.<br/> <br />More than 100 climbers have completed the challenge in recent days, including 25 year old Arunima Sinha who became the first female amputee to summit the mountain.
