The sentencing of a former nurse who admitted he started a fire at the nursing home where he worked began in Sydney Australia.<br/> <br />Roger Dean, seen here during a taped confession, explained to police that he used a lighter to set fire to one of the beds in November of 2011.<br/> <br />The fire quickly spread-- smoke filled the corridors as workers rushed to evacuate the residents. 11 people were killed in the incident.<br/> <br />Dean, who reportedly told police that he loved the residents, also said he had been compelled to light the fire by Satan.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) FORMER NURSE ROGER DEAN SAYING:<br/> <br />"I just felt evil, that I'm just corrupted with evil thoughts that have made me do that."<br/> <br />Dean has pleaded guilty to 11 counts of murder.<br/> <br />The trial is expected to last for several weeks.
