An earthquake hit Taiwan Sunday, causing road crashes and damaging property.<br/> <br />The 6.2 magnitude quake struck 38 km southeast of T'ai-chung city.<br/> <br />At least one person is dead and 20 are injured, according to the National Fire Agency.<br/> <br />Another person was reported missing.<br/> <br />Taiwanese television said the quake triggered a gas explosion in the centre of the islandbut did not offer any further details.<br/> <br />It also rattled the capital Taipei.<br/> <br />The island sits near the so-called ring of fire region of seismic activity around the Pacific Ocean.
