Onlookers gather at a vista point overlooking the record flooding in the German city of Passau.<br/> <br />The Danube's water level reached a record high of 12.2 metres there on Monday, last seen in the 16th century.<br/> <br />Most if not all of the city's streets are underwater, with rescue workers making their way through town by motorboat.<br/> <br />Authorities have declared a state of emergency for the region.<br/> <br />Meanwhile, the worst floods to hit the Czech Republic in a decade have disrupted public transport and forced school closures.<br/> <br />And there is no end in sight to the rising water levels on the Vltava River that cuts through Prague's historic centre.<br/> <br />The subway network was also halted for the first time since massive floods submerged the city in 2002 and caused billions of dollars of damage.<br/> <br />Czech Prime Minister Petr Necas declared a state of emergency for most of the nation on Sunday and pledged over $15 million dollars in relief efforts.
