Fog blamed for China bus crash

PLEASE NOTE: EDIT CONTAINS CONVERTED 4:3 MATERIAL<br/> <br />ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION<br/> <br />Fifteen people were killed after a bus plunged 40 metres (around 131 feet) down a steep slope and crashed into a roadside valley in north-western China, state media reported on Wednesday (June 19).<br/> <br />The accident happened at around 5 p.m. local time (0900 GMT) on Tuesday (June 18) when the bus was driving back to the city of Chiangji from a nearby tourist spot, state television CCTV reported.<br/> <br />In total there were 36 people on board.<br/> <br />The other 21 people were all injured to various degrees, and had been rushed to local hospitals, it added.<br/> <br />All the passengers were employees of a local shopping mall, who attended the one-day outing organised by their company, according to local media.<br/> <br />Poor visibility due to heavy fog was to blame for the crash, according to preliminary investigations, said CCTV.
