Scenes of devastation in flood ravaged northern India.<br/> <br />This year rains are at least twice as heavy in northwest and central India, due to the annual monsoon season's unusual intensity.<br/> <br />Hundreds have died and the interior minister says that number could go higher.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Hindi) INDIA'S INTERIOR MINISTER, SUSHIL KUMAR SHINDE SAYING:<br/> <br />"I have received a report confirming the deaths of 207 people, but with people buried under the debris it could be more. I will go there tomorrow for more information and, if the weather allows, I will also see the place."<br/> <br />Tens of thousands have been evacuated and rescue efforts continue.<br/> <br />People across the country offer their prayers.<br/> <br />The government is offering aid, but that may be cold comfort to those who have lost it all.
