Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff urged calm and addressed growing concerns during a speech Friday after a week of massive protests.<br/> <br />It is the citizens, not the economic power that should be heard first, she said.<br/> <br />But she also made clear that violence related to the massive demonstrations would not be tolerated.<br/> <br />More than one million people have marched or demonstrated over issues ranging from transportation fares to the billions of dollars being spent to host upcoming World Cup and Olympics.<br/> <br />During her speech Rousseff said the money spent on those events would come from companies and not the public federal budget.<br/> <br />Rousseff, herself a former guerrilla who protested the military rule during the 1960s, has promised to meet with protesters to find common ground.
