Russian President Vladimir Putin turned out on Saturday to commemorate the anniversary of the start of World War Two in 1941.<br/> <br />The ceremony took place at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow, near the Kremlin.<br/> <br />A military band played and Putin, together with other officials, laid flowers near the eternal flame.<br/> <br />Nazi Germany attacked the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941, marking the beginning of what is known in Russia as the Great Patriotic War.<br/> <br />Russia marks the end of World War Two with a nation-wide celebration held annually on May 9, also known as Victory Day.
