ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />STORY: A tanker truck transporting alcohol exploded Friday on a Bolivian highway on its way to Peru killing at least 18 people. It was still unclear how many people were injured in the accident.<br/> <br />The horrific multiple crash occurred on a highway linking the South American countries near the city of San Juan de Huancollo near the Peruvian border about 100 kilometers or 60 miles from La Paz.<br/> <br />Local reports indicated the tanker exploded after the truck driver lost control and collided with at least five other vehicles.<br/> <br />In total 11 vehicles were involved in the pile up with eight completely burned out.<br/> <br />Local officials said they had some setbacks in controlling the resulting blaze and that injured victims had been taken to nearby hospitals.<br/> <br />An investigation was underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
