People become blue for the smurfs

2013-06-24 65 Dailymotion

The first Smurfs movie grossed over 550 million US dollars, when it was released two years ago. Now after that success, the tiny blue-skinned creatures are unsurprisingly back for a second instalment.

To promote the movie a Global Smurfs Day was held in a similar manner to the launch of the first movie back in 2011. Smurf fans from around the world gathered together in Brussels, home of Peyo, the creator of the smurfs, all painted blue and wearing the white floppy hats.

But there was action elsewhere, with proper smurfs turning out in Singapore, while in Paris a flashmob was arranged to dance to the title song 'Ooh La La' by Britney Spears outside the Eiffel Tower.

Despite Italy's official soccer team being blue, they only managed to put figurines of the smurfs in prominent places like the Trevi Fountain.

If this movie does as well as the first one, you can expect everyday people to get a little blue for another Global Smurfs Day in 2015.
