(SOUNDBITE) (English) AUSTRALIAN PRIME MINISTER, KEVIN RUDD:<br/> <br />"In 2007 the Australian people elected me to be their Prime Minister that is a task I resume today with humility, with honour and with an important sense of energy and purpose"<br/> <br />With these words former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd resumed leadership of the country's ruling Labor party, and took up the position of Prime Minister.<br/> <br />It comes after an internal party election that saw Rudd get 57 votes, ousting Julia Gillard who had garnered 45.<br/> <br />The outgoing Prime Minister spoke shortly after the results were announced.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) FORMER AUSTRALIAN PRIME MINISTER, JULIA GILLARD:<br/> <br />"As you would probably be aware by now, Kevin Rudd has been elected as leader of the federal parliamentary Labor party. I congratulate Mr Rudd on his election. In view of his election I have written to the governor general asking her to commission Rudd as Prime Minster of Australia. "<br/> <br />The change in
