The bombing of the Boston marathon in April was the worst mass-casualty attack on U.S. soil since the September 11th attacks in 2001.<br/> <br />On Thursday the sole survivor of the two suspects was formally charged on 30 counts.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE)(English) CARMEN M. The victims, their families, and this community have shown extraordinary strength and resilience in the face of this senseless violence."<br/> <br />Dhokhar Tsarnaev is charged with planting the bombs that killed three people.<br/> <br />He's also accused of killing a campus police officer in his efforts to evade arrest.<br/> <br />Other charges include carjacking and engaging in a gun battle with police during which his elder brother Tamerlan was killed.<br/> <br />Dhokhar Tsarnaev was badly wounded but survived.<br/> <br />He could face execution if convicted.
