The Singapore coroner's ruled American engineer Shane Todd took his own life.<br/> <br />Todd's parents believe he was murdered because of his work.<br/> <br />The 31-year-old was found hanging at his apartment in June last year.<br/> <br />A lawyer for the family gave a brief statement.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE)(English) TODD FAMILY LEAD LAWYER GLORIA JAMES SAYING:<br/> <br />"Basically we were instructed to just convey the findings to the family, extend a copy of the findings to them, and to ensure that Shane Todd's personal belongings are actually returned to the family."<br/> <br />Todd's parents initially attended the coroner's inquiry but pulled out saying they'd lost confidence in the investigation of his death.<br/> <br />They allege he was murdered over his research on an advanced semiconductor material with commercial and military uses.<br/> <br />They say they'll issue a statement after reading the coroner's report.
