Kamal Haasan is always known to make patriotic kind of films, but when quizzed about Mahatma Gandhi, he says that for him, the very inspiring man can never be a Mahatma.
Kamal says even though he has become a fan of Gandhi over the years, but the man will never be a Mahatma for him. He explains by saying that calling him a Mahatma is like putting an aura over his head and giving him angelic wings. It takes away from him, what he has managed to achieve as a common man.
Instead of raising him to sainthood, he would much rather give him his due as a regular man with an extraordinary mind, great education and immense dedication. He says that even the purpose of making 'Hey Ram' was to show up that Mahatma side to him.
Well must say, that's quite a broad thinking!
