How Gmail’s New Tabbed Inbox Is About To Kill Your Marketing

If you haven’t you soon will. <br /><br />The roll out began in May and continues to be added by more and more Gmail users. <br /><br />So what do you care? Well, if you’re a marketer you should care a LOT! <br /><br />Let’s me explain…<br /><br />For many Gmail users there are now 4 tabs at the top of your Gmail account now that are designed to automatically filter messages into the most appropriate tab (folder). <br /><br />For Gmail users, which messages do you think they will MOST likely to want to read? Those under the Primary tab right? <br /><br />And which ones do you think most Gmail users will be LEAST likely to want to read? You guessed it, the messages auto filtered under the Promotions tab. <br /><br />And THAT is why most marketer should be concerned. You see for most marketers — the guys who send nothing but promotion after promotion — that’s where their emails are going to end up. And so they should! <br /><br />And as a result of this auto filtering, their messages will rarely get read and their sales and profits will quickly begin to plummet! <br /><br />But what about guys like me (and hopefully you)? <br /><br />Guys that don’t just pound our subscribers with promotion after promotion. Guys who actually care about their readers and send top quality, actionable content? <br /><br />Well, sadly we just may end up their too.
