Kachiri village of Democratic Republic of Congo in the eastern district of Masisis is a shadow of what it used to be.<br /><br />When rebels and government forces began to fight here, residents fled to a camp. After three years, they returned, to find their land had gone.<br /><br />It now belongs to a powerful member of a local militia who says he bought it legally.<br /><br />Al Jazeera’s Peter Greste reports Masis.
