Rim fire rages on, firefighting resources strained

A sign posted in California's iconic Yosemite National Park tells visitors which parts are closed due to wildfires.<br/> <br />The so called Rim fire has destroyed more than 12,000 acres of the park since it began a few weeks ago, and that number is rising.<br/> <br />Firefighters have been cutting shrubs and trees to try and stop the advancing flames... but harsh terrain is making that difficult.<br/> <br />The fire is only five percent contained.<br/> <br />Because of increasingly strained resources, last week U.S. wildfire managers opened talks with the Pentagon about possible reinforcements.
