A 96-year old man is making headlines with a song he wrote for his late wife.<br/> <br />Fred Stobaugh, whose wife Lorraine died last April, entered a song writing competition in his local city of Peoria, Illinois.<br/> <br />Although he didn't meet the qualifications for the contest, the organizers were so moved by his lyrics that they reached out to him to record his song.<br/> <br />"Oh Sweet Lorraine" - and an online documentary about its making entitled "Letter From Fred" - have become web sensations, accruing millions of views on YouTube and spreading via social media around the world.<br/> <br />The vocals on the song are provided by Jacob Colgan, whose studio, Green Shoe, organized the contest.<br/> <br />"Oh Sweet Lorraine," which is available for purchase on iTunes, is the first and only song written by Stobaugh, who met his wife in 1938.<br/> <br />They were married for 72 years.
