Karl Lagerfeld, the Kaiser of fashion turns 80.<br/> <br />The eccentric designer known for his slick silver ponytail, black shades and wardrobe was born on September 10, 1933, in Hamburg, Germany.<br/> <br />His fashionable creations have wowed the world since the mid-1960's when he started designing for Italian fashion house Fendi.<br/> <br />He then moved to Chloé in the mid-1970s, and has been at the helm of French fashion label Chanel since 1983.<br/> <br />While known for his sleek, classic, yet modern designs, Lagerfeld is also occasionally in the press for his controversial remarks.<br/> <br />In 2012, he caused instant fury in the UK when he called British diva Adele "a little too fat" during an interview with a French newspaper.<br/> <br />He later apologized in a statement.<br/> <br />It's unknown where the fashion giant will celebrate his 80th birthday, but it's sure to be done in style.
