Giving today's young musicians a run for their money - British music legend David Bowie is amongst the nominess for this year's prestigious Mercury Music Prize.<br /> <br />The 66-year old's new album ''The Next Day'' is one of 12 records in the running for the best British and Irish album of the year.<br /> <br />Debut dance quartet Rudimental have also made the shortlist and say being up against Bowie is surreal.<br /> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) Rudimental band members, Amir Amor and Kesi Dryden, saying:<br /> <br />"It's amazing man, I mean Spider from Mars - we're from Hackney, it's quite a different thing. But it's quite amazing to be in the same category. I never, ever, ever imagined that. I hope we beat him."<br /> <br />Laura Mvula's made the list too - with her record "Sing to the Moon".<br /> <br />Meanwhile it's a second time The Foals have been nominated.<br /> <br />At the event in London, there were performances from some of the nominees including James Blake.<br /> <br />It's Bowie though who's the bookies favourite
