Thousands still waiting for aid in flood ravaged Mexico

Days of rain and mudslides have turned this Mexican town into a wake zone.<br/> <br />Widespread flooding in the town of Tixtla in southwest Mexico has drowned homes and stranded many of its residents.<br/> <br />Across the country, more than 100 people have died from the heavy rains unleashed by Hurricane Manuel last week.<br/> <br />Some people have lost everything.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) FLOOD VICTIM, AUSENCIO MORALES, SAYING:<br/> <br />"Some homes are flooded. Some lost all types of things such as animals, clothes, papers etc."<br/> <br />In Xaltianguis marines arrive and are delivering aid.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) FLOOD VICTIM, OMAR NAVARRETE, SAYING:<br/> <br />"The troops are supporting us. We thank them for helping to deliver supplies to this town because we are in need. We are cut-off on from both Acapulco and Chilpancingo. There are families with short supplies."<br/> <br />The weather left more than 22,000 homes damaged in the area and as many as 20,000 people remain in shelters.
