"Last Nite" is a single lifted from Is This It, the debut album of acclaimed American garage rock/post-punk band The Strokes. <br /><br />In March 2005, Q magazine placed "Last Nite" at number 66 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks. <br /><br />In September 2006, NME placed "Last Nite" at number 1 in its list of the 50 Greatest Tracks Of The Decade, in celebration of 10 years of nme.com. <br /><br />The Strokes riff in this song is very similar to Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' "American Girl." In a 2006 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Tom Petty said "The Strokes took 'American Girl' [for their song "Last Nite"], and I saw an interview with them where they actually admitted it.
