ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />STORY: Sting kicked off a series of intimate benefit concerts in New York with songs from his new album "The Last Ship."<br/> <br />"This is the first collection of new songs for me in almost a decade," Sting told the audience as he hit the stage.<br/> <br />The British pop star is performing ten special concerts to raise funds for New York's Public Theater art organization.<br/> <br />The concerts will run from September 25 through October 9 at the 260-seat Anspacher Theater at the arts organization in Manhattan.<br/> <br />The singer, who shot to fame in the band the Police, said the small venue is "a natural fit" to perform the material from the album.<br/> <br />"The Last Ship," was released on September 23rd and draws inspiration from Sting's childhood in northern England.<br/> <br />It is his first album with original material since "Sacred Love" in 2003.<br/> <br />A stage production of the same name as the album, based on his experiences living near the Swan Hunter Shipyar
