Originally published on August 23, 2013 <br /><br />Police in Mexico are investigating whether the discovery of at least seven bodies exhumed from a mass grave outside Mexico City on August 22 are those of a group young people who were abducted from a bar in the capital three months ago.<br /><br />The federal Attorney General's Office said police received information about a possible illegal weapons cache at a property outside Mexico City known locally as Rancho La Negra. On Wednesday police there discovered a shallow grave containing at least seven partially decomposed bodies buried under lime and sand.<br /><br />Police set up a one-mile perimeter around the gravesite as family members of some of the missing gathered and wept. Forensic police will attempt to identify the dead using DNA tests.<br /><br />Some fear the bodies could be those of the 12 people aged 16 to 32 last seen at the Heaven bar in Mexico City on May 26. A witness who escaped said the bar manager order the music to be shut off as the venue was about to be raided by police. A number of seemingly unarmed men then led victims into waiting cars.<br /><br />Five people have been arrested in connection with the daylight bar abduction.
