Originally published on August 9, 2013<br /><br />At least 10 people were killed on Friday in an attack to a politician outside a mosque in the Pakistani city of Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province.<br /><br />According to reports, former provincial government minister Ali Mohammad Jattack came out of a mosque with a group of supporters after sunrise prayers marking the start of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr. <br /><br />He then entered a car, and while driving past worshippers a group of gunmen approached the vehicle and opened fire.<br /><br />The shooting seemed to have been aimed at former provincial government minister Ali Mohammad Jattack but the motive and perpetrators were not clear, Reuters reported. <br /><br />According to reports, at least 10 people were killed while at least 24 were injured. Police said Jattack managed to escape unhurt. <br /><br />Nobody has so far claimed responsibility for the shooting.<br /><br />The attack came a day after a Taliban suicide bomber killed 30 people at a police funeral in Quetta.<br /><br />According to Express News, following the shooting, eight suspected militants were arrested and kalashnikovs and other weapons were recovered from their possession.<br /><br />According to AP, "Baluchistan is home to both Islamic militants and separatists who have been waging a low-level insurgency against the government for decades.<br /><br />--------------------------------------------------------<br /><br />TomoNews is your daily source for top animated news.
