Gunmen attacked a vehicle carrying Rosalia Palma, a candidate for a local legislative seat in southern Mexico, on June 29.<br /><br />According to reports, the attack took place near Teposcolula District in the Mixteca region of the state of Oaxaca. Palma, a member of the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), was travelling with her husband and her niece, who was also her assistant. Unknown assailants opened fire on Palma's vehicle with R-15 rifles and 9mm pistols. Palma's husband and niece were killed.
