In the shadow of the Washington Monument, hundreds of military veterans gather on the Capitol Mall Sunday.<br/> <br />Their message... reopen the nation's war memorials that have closed because of the government shutdown.<br/> <br />Holding signs and American flags, the veterans were joined by Republican Senator Ted Cruz, who is leading the charge to defund Obamacare.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: REPUBLICAN SENATOR FROM TEXAS, TED CRUZ, SAYING:<br/> <br />"Two weeks ago, the House of Representatives passed legislation to open every memorial and every federal park in this country.
