South Korean soldiers shoot man trying to cross into North

Originally published on September 16, 2013 <br /><br /><br />South Korean soldiers on the border shot and killed a man believed to be illegally crossing into North Korea. <br /><br />Officials at South Korea's Defense Ministry told Associated Press that the man, identified as Nam Young-ho, ignored warnings to return to the South after guards caught him trying to scale a border fence. After he was told to go back, he found a section of the Imjin River, which runs along the border.<br /><br />The incident occurred near the western portion of the border in Paju, north of Seoul.<br /><br />Mr. Young-ho, South Korean, was deported from Japan in June although it is unclear why.<br /><br />His body was found attached to two buoys and he was carrying cookies. <br /><br />North Korean officials made no comment of the shooting at the time of this report.<br /><br />The Korean Peninsula is technically in a state of war following the Korean War.<br /><br /><br />--------------------------------------------------------<br /><br />TomoNews is your daily source for top animated news.
