The team had no turnovers and forced three away from the Wildcats. The Golden Gophers returned an interception for a touchdown. On defense they give up 328 yards of offense to Northwestern with 94 on the ground for 3 ½ yards a carry. Minnesota held the Wildcats to just 6 of 16 conversions on third down.
