The instability in Egypt is having a devastating effect on the country’s tourism industry.<br /><br />The government says more than $1bn in tourism revenue has been lost since the mass demonstrations in July after which the military seized power. Visitor numbers have since fallen by an estimated 80 percent.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Bernard Smith reports from Luxor.
