A court in China has rejected the appeal of former politician Bo Xiali and upheld his life sentence.<br /><br />Bo was convicted in September of bribery, embezzlement and abuse of power.<br /><br />The former Chongqing Communist Party leader was ousted from his position in 2012 in a scandal which led to his wife being convicted of the murder of a British businessman.<br /><br />Many in China expected Bo’s appeal to fail as the courts are under the control of the ruling Communist Party.<br /><br />Bo was expelled from the organisation last year.<br /><br />Many of his supporters believe he is the victim of a political purge.
