Hackers claim to crack iPhone 5S fingerprint scanner

Originally published on September 23, 2013 <br /><br />A group of hackers has claimed to have defeated the latest iPhone security fingerprint scanner. <br /><br />The Berlin-based group called Chaos Computer Club, announced they had successfully hacked into an iPhone 5S on Sunday.<br /><br />They are in the running to receive a $20,000 bounty offered to the first hacker to be able to crack the new iPhone. <br /><br />The group posted step by step instructions online.<br /><br />Once a fingerprint sample is secured, it is dusted with powder and then the powder is solidified with a superglue component.<br /><br />After this, the fingerprint is clearly defined and can be photographed at a 2400 dpi resolution. <br /><br />The photo is then uploaded and edited for clarity and then printed onto a transparent sheet using a heavy toner. <br /><br />Once the toner is set, the fake fingerprint is covered with wood glue.<br /><br />Once the wood glue is dry, it can be peeled off and will be a replica for the original fingerprint.
