A man was killed when part of a parking lot collapsed near a mall in Maryland on Thursday. The incident took place at the Westfield Montgomery Mall at about 2pm. The parking lot was under construction at the time when a section of the deck collapsed. It was reported that two workers were trapped underneath a 50,000-pound slab of concrete and steel. One of the workers died at the scene while the other was trapped for about four hours before he was rescued and flown to a hospital.
