After two months of uneasy calm, heavy clashes break out again in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.<br/> <br />The fighting between M23 rebels and the army was near Goma City.<br/> <br />Here the Congolese army bombards rebel positions with heavy artillery.<br/> <br />It comes just days after peace talks in Uganda broke down.<br/> <br />The main sticking point is the future of the rebel commanders who are targeted by international sanctions.<br/> <br />The government has refused to grant them amnesty.<br/> <br />The M23 rebel movement is named after a 23rd March 2009 peace deal that ended four years of rebellion.<br/> <br />It began as a mutiny by Congolese soldiers in early 2012.<br/> <br />The rebels complained the Congolese government had failed to honour the agreement, which included integrating them into the army.
