At least 40 people have been killed – many of them burned alive – when a bus crashed into a stationary oil tanker in southern India.<br /><br />The incident happened on the main Bangalore to Hyderabad highway.<br /><br />The driver and one other passenger are believed to have jumped to safety after breaking a window.<br /><br />More than 110,000 people are killed every year in road accidents across India.<br /><br />Most crashes are blamed on reckless driving, poorly maintained roads and aging vehicles.
