China says five detained in connection with Tiananmen attack

Monday's fiery car crash in Beijing's Tiananmen Square that left five people dead was a terror attack.<br/> <br />That's according to Chinese state media which made the announcement on Wednesday.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) UNNAMED CCTV NEWSREADER, SAYING:<br/> <br />"Police had determined the incident that had occurred on October 28 was a tightly planned, organized and premeditated violent case of terrorist attack."<br/> <br />Chinese police say the SUV involved in the crash was driven by Usmen Hasan.<br/> <br />They say his wife and mother were also in the car.<br/> <br />Their names suggest they could be ethnic Uighurs -- Muslims from the restive Xinjiang region bordering Afghanistan and Pakistan.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) UNNAMED CCTV NEWSREADER, SAYING:<br/> <br />"Police found there was gasoline, a gasoline container, two machetes and iron rods inside the car.
