Tunisia boosts security after suicide bomb attack on resort

Tunisia is increasing its security after a suicide bomber blew himself up in the tourist resort of Sousse and police foiled another attack in Monastir.<br /><br />No group has claimed responsibility but the Islamist government says it is now battling al Qaeda-linked militants boosted by chaos in neighbouring Libya.<br /><br />The first bomber had sought to enter a hotel with a suitcase but was reportedly turned away and made for the nearby beach where he detonated his device.<br /><br />Authorities say they prevented another attack from a would-be suicide bomber at former President Habib Bourguiba’s tomb in Monastir.<br /><br />The bombing is bad news for Tunisia’s vital tourism industry which attracted 5.8 million mostly European visitors to its desert tours and Mediterranean beaches last year.
