NSA intercepts Google, Yahoo traffic overseas: report

The U.S. National Security Agency has been intercepting overseas data traffic on Google and Yahoo.<br/> <br />That information, reported by the Washington Post on Wednesday, which said the newly disclosed surveillance program is code named MUSCULAR.<br/> <br />The report is based on secret NSA documents leaked by former contractor Edward Snowden.<br/> <br />The operation was reportedly done jointly with the British government and allowed the NSA to amass more than 180 million records recently in just one month.<br/> <br />Google says it's not aware of the program and its top legal officer said he was "outraged" by the revelation that data from its private fiber networks had been intercepted.<br/> <br />Reaction to the news, in cities like Washington and New York, was mixed.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) MARTY GOTTLIEB, FILMMAKER AND NEW YORKER, SAYING:<br/> <br />"I don't like government agencies tapping into anyone's private information.
