Three people were injured on Wednesday evening in Mobile, Alabama, after two barges loaded with natural gas exploded and caught fire.<br />According to reports, the first blast happened at around 8:30 pm on a barge near the George C. Wallace traffic tunnel, which carries traffic from Interstate 10 under the Mobile River. A one-nautical-mile safety zone has been established around one of the barges.<br />According to Fox10 TV, the explosion occurred while crews were conducting a cleaning operation. The injured people are in critical condition at the USA Medical Center. Fire department spokesman Steve Huffman did not describe the severity of their injuries, CNN reported.<br />There were at least three explosions tied to the incident, Mobile Fire-Rescue noted around 9:30 pm on Twitter.
