Hundreds of police officers were called to a shopping mall in Paramus, New Jersey on Monday evening after multiple gunshots rang out shortly before closing time.<br /><br />Witnesses said a masked man who appeared to be wearing body armour was seen carrying a gun into the Garden State Plaza.<br /><br />Shoppers were immediately told to leave the building. <br /><br />A SWAT team and regular police officers began a steady sweep of the shopping centre searching the floors for the alleged gunman.<br /><br />While most people managed to leave the mall others barricaded themselves into shops waiting for the police to guide them to safety.<br /><br />No casualties have been reported.
