A bushfire at Kemps Creek, west of Sydney was brought under control by firefighters on Friday (November 8) after it had earlier threatened homes and residents.<br/> <br />The fire has burned about 250 hectares of land and additional firefighters had been sent to the area to contain the blaze. Local media reported that a busy motorway in the area suffered from low visibility due to smoke coming from the fire.<br/> <br />On Bribie Island north of Brisbane in Queensland, firefighters started to gain control of another fire that has burnt about 1000 hectares of land.<br/> <br />Two helicopters and 16 fire crews fought the fire, and no homes were threatened, local media reported.
