Residents scrambled to get on a military flight on Thursday (November 14) as desperation grows almost a week after a powerful typhoon flattened Tacloban city in central Philippines.<br/> <br />There were emotional scenes at the heavily-damaged airport where men, women and children were turned away from boarding a C-130 plane.<br/> <br />Priority for these flights are given to the injured, the sick and the elderly.<br/> <br />The sheer scale of devastation is a huge challenge for aid agencies.<br/> <br />More the 544,600 people have been displaced by the storm and nearly 12 percent of the population directly affected, the United Nations said. Many areas still have no received aid.
