Boston mobster James "Whitey" Bulger was sentenced Thursday to life in prison.<br/> <br />A judge handed down two consecutive life terms plus five years for crimes including a string of murders when Bulger was the notorious leader of the Winter Hill gang back in the 70's and 80's.<br/> <br />In handing down the sentence, the judge told the gangster, who is now 84, "The scope, the callousness, the depravity of your crimes are almost unfathomable."<br/> <br />Bulger was arrested by the FBI after 16 years on the run.
